Club History

The Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club came into existence in the spring of 2001 when the first team was entered into the Greater Vancouver Junior Field Hockey League. The driving forces behind the creation of the program were Brian Lewis and a group of dedicated parents and coaches who, with great assistance from the City of Coquitlam and their GENDER EQUITY PROGRAM, brought the program to life. Under Brian’s guidance as president the program has continued to grow each year reflective of the need for an alternative sport beyond the previous offerings for girls.

In 2003 Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club began a successful mini program at Cunnings Field in Coquitlam. By 2004 the club had grown to six mini teams and 15 junior teams with well over 300 players under the age of 18. Today the club has over 450 players in the spring program.

September 2004 brought another club milestone when Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club entered their first team in the Vancouver Women’s League. Each year our numbers grew and in 2007 with 5 teams represented in four divisions. All five of these teams in 2007 played in the divisional final game of which 3 of the teams won the playoff cup! Today the club has 120 players ranging from ages 14 to 65 on seven teams playing the Vancouver Women’s League in all divisions.

June, 2014 saw the efforts of Brian Lewis recognized by the Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame. Brian was inducted to this prestigious post under the category of BUILDER, for his efforts in building a lasting organization that supports Field Hockey in the Tri-Cities Area. We are all very proud to be part of Brian's vision and hard work over the years.

We encourage all parents to participate and will provide access to courses in coaching and umpiring for any interested individuals. In addition, we need volunteers to help manage teams and assist in the general administration of the club.

We have opportunities in Coaching, Umpiring, Tournament Coordinating, Executive, Administrative, and Fundraising.

Please send an email to info@tcfieldhockey.com if you are available to assist. We would be pleased to discuss the opportunities in greater detail. Your help is welcomed and would be appreciated!
