News and Announcements
Priya Puri is the TCE Umpire of the Month for October! In October she umpired the most games for the club, a total of 7 games in 3 weeks.
Since 2004, Priya has been involved with the Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club as a player, coach and umpire. She has umpired for over 7 years, and is one of our senior umpires. She extremely reliable and always steps up to umpire and mentor last minute games.
Priya became an umpire because she wanted to improve her understanding of field hockey and build confidence. “Becoming an umpire helped me become a better player and develop personal everyday skills,” says Priya.
Currently, Priya is in her 4th year of the Forestry Science program at UBC, where she will be writing her undergraduate thesis next year. She hopes to continue conducting research that will benefit the forestry industry of B.C. Her tip to developing umpires is to “trust your instincts, communicate, and have fun!”
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Priya!

Hello Tri-City Eagles!
The Fall season is coming up in September, and we need umpires to represent our club! Many of our Spring umpires have already been contacted, but if you or your child is interested in joining our umpiring team please contact our umpire coordinators, Allegra Whistler and Mercedes Hamilton, at email@example.com
We’re always looking for new and returning umpires. Note that registration for Fall umpires needs to be completed by Wednesday, July 11th.
Umpire of the Month is a part of our new initiative to recognize our club’s amazing umpires. Georgia Lemaire is our umpire of the month for June!
Georgia started playing with the club 10 years ago. Since then she has joined the coaching and umpiring team, currently coaching with her younger brother Malcolm. Georgia is a keen young umpire that has stepped up many times. She umpired 13 games this spring season. Currently, she has a community umpiring rating and hopes to upgrade to a provincial. Georgia also plays for her High School field hockey team at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School. Next year she will be entering grade 12. She hopes to continue building her skills as a player, coach and umpire.
Thank you Georgia!
At this time, I would also like to thank our whole team of umpires this Spring season. This season we had a total of 27 active umpires, including 12 mentors. Without them our games would not be possible. Thank you to each and every one of you.
This season we also recruited two new umpires, and completed five community assessments this season. To these seven individuals, I would like to say welcome to the team, and congratulations!
Welcome to the Umpiring Team, New Umpires
Once again, a huge thank you to all our umpires. We look forward to working with you in the Fall and next Spring!
