News and Announcements
Our game at Cariboo Field, BBY has been officially CANCELLED.
I doubt that practice will be on next week, based on the fact that we are expecting a week of snow ahead. Stay tuned for updates.
Have an amazing weekend.
Although the BBY and VAN City websites have listed the fields as closed for the weekend, the league HAS NOT CANCELLED OUR GAME – yet. This puts coaches and families in a holding pattern for the evening – and until official confirmation is received, consider the game STILL ON.
I apologize for the frustration – obviously I was hoping to be able to offer a clearer decision before now so that families can play their weekend. I know that the league administrators are desperately trying to get games running on any available fields (with the hopes of reducing the amount of double headers for next weekend) stay tuned – I will check the website and my emailed every 30 mins.
If the game is still on, I have room in my car for 4 others. Text me if you need a ride.
Michelle and Lisa.

Robin Goodman is our Umpire of the Month for January!
Robin has been with the Tri-City Eagles field hockey club for over 13 years as a player, coach and umpire! She began her umpire journey seven years ago because she wanted to become more involved with the sport that she loved, and also make some side cash. Robin is one of our few high-rated provincial umpires in the club, and just received her recertification. She enjoys umpiring because it provides her with challenges and gives her a different perspective, and appreciation, for field hockey. “I feel like the more I develop as an umpire, the more I learn and become a better player”, says Robin.
Currently, Robin plays on our Division 1 women’s league team, and coaches for Shiv’s Coaching Academy. She has recently graduated from SFU with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and hopes to become a veterinarian.
Robin’s advice to young upcoming umpires is “be confident, and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself to umpire difficult games. I feel that I have always learned the most from higher level games.” I couldn’t agree more Robin!
Thank you for all the hard work you do for our club! We hope you continue to umpire, play and coach with us for many more years to come.
Practice tonight is cancelled – duh!
Depending on the weather later in the week, some games may potentially be played this weekend as snow distribution across the GVRD is varied – I don’t really think games will be on – but will wait for the formal game cancelations. I will not be able to advise you further until Friday night, so stay tuned.
Make up games weekend is likely going to be a double header – 23/24th in any combination. If the snow persists, the league will focus on regular season games first, and then semi’s and finals. WE may have 2 games on one day, or one on each day – TBD – I will let you know as soon as I know.
Take good care, stay warm and safe everyone.
Cait Macey – the attachment is for you.
