The Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club established the Mini Program as an opportunity for girls between the ages of 6 and 10 to be involved in the sport. The program was designed as an introduction to girls to field hockey with a modified field and rules to accommodate the skills of the girls in this age range.
Over the years, the Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club has expanded its Mini House League program to include eight teams. The Mini teams play on a shortened field, with custom mini nets and modified rules. The program consists of one practice during the week and one game at Cunnings Field on Saturday mornings. 16 players per team playing eight aside + a goalie on a modified field.
The In-House League concept is designed to introduce girls to the skills and rules of field hockey prior to moving on to inter-club competition. Enrolment is limited and priority is based on receipt of registration information and payment. The primary goal of the Mini program is not only to promote the sport of field hockey, but to encourage team spirit on and off the field while having lots of fun!
A Mini Boy’s League is being considered. Those with boys between the ages of 6 and 10 that are interested in playing Field Hockey are asked to contact Brian Lewis directly at 604-619-4034.
