Umpire Spotlight - January
Robin Goodman is our Umpire of the Month for January!
Robin has been with the Tri-City Eagles field hockey club for over 13 years as a player, coach and umpire! She began her umpire journey seven years ago because she wanted to become more involved with the sport that she loved, and also make some side cash. Robin is one of our few high-rated provincial umpires in the club, and just received her recertification. She enjoys umpiring because it provides her with challenges and gives her a different perspective, and appreciation, for field hockey. “I feel like the more I develop as an umpire, the more I learn and become a better player”, says Robin.
Currently, Robin plays on our Division 1 women’s league team, and coaches for Shiv’s Coaching Academy. She has recently graduated from SFU with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and hopes to become a veterinarian.
Robin’s advice to young upcoming umpires is “be confident, and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself to umpire difficult games. I feel that I have always learned the most from higher level games.” I couldn’t agree more Robin!
Thank you for all the hard work you do for our club! We hope you continue to umpire, play and coach with us for many more years to come.

November Umpire of the Month - Alyssa Tong
The Umpire of the Month for November is Alyssa Tong!
Alyssa, one of our younger and upcoming umpires, began playing for the club over 8 years ago. She began umpiring several years ago to develop a deeper understanding of the game. Her favourite part of umpiring is being able to support players and watch the Tri-City teams at all levels of play.
In addition to umpiring, Alyssa coaches one of our U12 teams in the Spring, and plays for the Tri-City Eagles Champions team during the fall. She also played for the Port Moody Secondary School, where she is in her final year of study. After Alyssa graduates this year, she hopes to play field hockey at a varsity level and pursue a nursing career.
We are fortunate to have such a bright, positive young lady on our umpiring squad. Thank you Alyssa for stepping up and representing our club!
