For the month of September we would like to award Tienna Northgraves as our Umpire of the Month!

Tienna has been with the Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club for over 16 years as a player, umpire and coach. She is one of the club’s most senior umpires, and is a reliable umpire mentor. Tienna became an umpire over eight years ago to get more involved in the sport that she loves. In addition, field hockey runs within the family as her sister and mother also playe and umpire for the club!

“I like being able to use my umpire knowledge as an asset when playing and coaching,” said Tienna, “right now I continue to play on the TCE Women’s Division 2 team and coach the Spring U18 Venom.”

Outside of the field hockey world Tienna is completing a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Criminology at Douglas College. In the future she hopes to work in the fields of harm reduction and counselling.

Tienna’s advice to younger umpires is to “ask questions! You will improve your umpiring skills with clarity and constructive criticism!” Thank you Tienna for all your hard work over the many years!
